Music to Drive By
There are tons of photos to download and sort, sand to empty out of suitcases and many, many thoughts and memories to collect. I expect that I'll start blogging a snappy little recounting of our marvelous adventures next week. But it is Friday and that does require a video and that put me in mind of this little number.
The Child loaded her iPod with a bunch of music for the trip (half of which somehow never came up whenever we asked her to put it on "shuffle"...although, oddly, there was never a dearth of Miley Cyrus. Hmmmm).
Road trip music is a very subjective thing. Certainly, whenever there was some Springsteen it was appropriate. Likewise, the three of us found Abba's "Greatest Hits" and the soundtrack to "Moulin Rouge" to be particularly invigorating. (Funny story: we had the latter on in the car while driving to breakfast with Sling. "That girl has a pretty voice," he opined. "That's Nicole Kidman," we said. "What!?! She gets to look like that AND sing?"
But, and this will not come as a surprise to most of you, the songs that really got me going were from the "British Gold: the 80s" double album collection. Mommy does like her synth-pop-pretty boy tunes when cruising down the freeway.

Welcome home...you were missed both here and in the flesh. Can't wait to read/hear more about your adventures!
You're welcome, SCG. It's good to be home. Although there's still that suitcase to unpack and I hate doing that.
That's just too funny.. And unpacking is vile..
Cuz, and the silliest bit is that we had laundry facilities and therefore brought home mostly clean clothes that just have to be put back where they belong. And yet...I don't wanna!
I am thinkin those pics are gonna be fabulous. So very sorry about your SIL. Love you, me
This song is like comfort food. aaaaaaaaaahhh.
Can't wait to hear about your trip!
I hope the photos will live up to your expectations, Rosie. And thank you. Love you, too.
Duran Duran = mac and cheese. I like that thought, Leah. Also, now I'm a little peckish.
..I love drive-by music.
Ba Ha Ha Ha (Note no W)
Please give "The Spouse" a humble Peace, Love, Harmony, and Beautiful Thoughts. Oh, and speaking of such, grab one for yourself also.
Welcome home, great to have you back.
Thanks for bringing back the sun! Friday was like the warmest day we've had this year!
Peace

Yo yo yo, Slingshot.
Thanks, Anonyba. And believe it or not, yesterday here was hotter than just about any of our days in California (excluding the first day in O-Town).
Cant wait for your pictures and stories. I love the Duran Duran.
I unpacked my suitcase today and am almost finished the laundry. Now to catch up on the blogging.
Glad you're back and you had a great time!! can't wait to see the pictures and hear the stories!
