Hi. I'm Not Hungry.

We recovered sufficiently to have dinner at Lao Szechaun. Ouch.

The food was very, very good; the company even better. We met up with Harry, Jack and Steve (from the other night) plus their friend Ken and his buddy Euan. And then we ate and ate and ate and then I wanted to die. Mineral water is my friend.

Last night, while The Spouse and I were enjoying some wine on the Balcony of Terror, crazy weird clouds started billowing across the sky. It looked like the pipe smoke of a giant. The clouds massed together and came down to earth and for a little while there I think we both had visions of spending the night in the bathroom, hiding from a tornado. But it wasn't a tornado. Silly us.

The day has again dawned clear and warm. We'll be setting off soon to meet up with Nicole et famille for lunch at Navy Pier and then our fam will finally head to the Art Institute. Jon and maybe Iwanskis are coming for cocktails, then we go see "Wicked" and are planning on an apres theatre dinner at the steakhouse by our building because The Spouse has yet to indulge in a Chicago steak. I personally will be dining on 3 lettuce leaves dressed with salt.

Huh? It would seem that Maria is doing the rounds.
Anyhuh, you must avoid salting the lettuce because,as you know, lettuce is mostly water and salt, as you also know, is entirely too keen on retaining water, thus making you feel just as puff n'stuffed as if you'd gone for the steak as well. Which reminds me, go for the steak as well! heh heh
It's a vacation.

Yeah, and she's totally saying the same thing to everybody!! I SO do not feel special.

Oh, and last night I was reading something you wrote and saw the words "balcony of terror" and it caught me offguard and made me laugh out loud except I was inhaling a cigarette and then I started coughing really really hard and then I couldn't smoke again for another hour. But it was worth it.

Hat, you have a point. And I admit, I did actually have dressing on my lunch salad. Which I didn't even finish. (Ok, I also ate one of The Child's ribs -meaning a baby back rib...not her atual rib...and some chicken and fries that weren't consumed by a little French kid).

And since Maria is not singling out anyone I don't feel compelled to look up a clever, perky reply and run it through Babel Fish. I'm on vacation.

JP: I just hope you know that "Balcony of Terror" is now venacular with the Chicago crowd and will be bandied about with aplomb.

Lorraine,

I got your voice mail and tried to call you back on your cell phone twice...but there was no answer, and I couldn’t leave a message. Weirdness!

Anyway, as much as John & I would LOVE to join you guys for cocktails tonight, we have just way too much to do. I have to work late, and then we have to do laundry, pack for my niece’s wedding this weekend, clean the litterboxes, etc, etc. We have such a fun night ahead, don’t we? *smiles*

Well, I hope that you guys really enjoy Wicked, and that your last moments in Chicago leave you with the happiest of memories. We have had a BLAST hanging out with you guys this past week, and I know that we are so lucky to have met such good and lasting friends! Whoo-hoo! I hope you had a wonderful vacation and that you’ll be back again soon!

Love,

MHP :)

It's okay to have steak, and big Macs, and fries,as long as you have diet Coke.
That's how it works.

Aw, you KNOW you're gonna have the steak. And I'd be disappointed if you didn't.

MHP: We had the best time ever and the best thing of all is that you and Iwanski are now officially "friends". We love you guys. Thanks so much for the best frakking SUPERFANTASTIC time!

Sling: How many calories in a bottle of red wine?

Red: I disappoint. Couldn't do the steak (although The Spouse was very pleased with his). Had a gorgeous bowl of soup, though. And Key Lime pie.

Hi, I'm tubby.

Oh snap! Key Lime Pie is my hands down ultimate favorite of all the pies. Seriously? Seriously.

Key lime pie.....drool! I'm with AH on that one. I used to think turtle cheesecake was my fave, but had some key lime and it knocked the turtle right off the charts.

And Sling is right - the Diet Coke (or Pepsi in my case) makes it okay to eat all the rest. Heck, at Starbucks I order a double tall non-fat, sugar free cinnamon dolce latte - with whipped cream of course! Why else go non-fat and sugar free if not to have whipped cream? Duh!
