Public Service Announcement

I got a call from a friend tonight about this and thought that maybe others of you are not sure soooo:

if you live in Washington state and want to attend your caucus on Saturday (1pm) but aren't sure where it is, go here right now and find out.

Important point: all, that's all, of the Democratic delegates are going to come from the caucuses. Regardless of your party, if you are supporting Hillary or Barack, you need to attend a caucus for your vote to count.

But we're having a primary in a couple weeks, says you. Yes, we are. And there will be issues on that which you may want to vote. But it is NOT a primary for the Democratic candidate. (The GOP is selecting half of their delegates from the primary so if you're supporting McCain (or Huckabee because he's lonely) you can do either the caucus or the primary.

But again, I repeat because this is important, if you are a registered voter who supports either Clinton or Obama OR if you are 17 but will be of voting age by the election, you need to caucus on Saturday to be heard. Got that?

'K.

You're welcome.

This is ridiculous. No wonder voters have such a hard time getting it right.

I blame the GOP, JP. They are the ones who decided they didn't want to get all their delegates from the caucus. See? Confusing bastids.

Ok, Sageweb, be here by 12:30 if you want to car pool. Earlier if you want brunch first.

And I know, right? I think it's that we suffer from confusion envy...we get tired of "the other Washington" stealing all our thunder. ("Go Redskins"...that's funny).

Caucusing sounds fun.

Altho' I learned on NPR yesterday that New Mexico's delegate-choosing thing is simply called a "caucus" because it's funded by the state and not by the federal party, but in fact behaves just like a "primary," what with people voting in private little booths with their secret ballots.

Go figure. We have a regular old "primary" here in DC next Tuesday. Can't wait to get my vote on.

Ours is a good old-fashioned sit-around-a-table-and-tell-your-other-precinct-members-who-you're-supporting thing, Red. It's really fun. And I'm excited because The Spouse is even coming with me this year. And if The Child comes with and writes about it she'll get extra credit. Which she is so doing.
