It Blew. It also Bites and Sucks.
I am currently in a secret undisclosed location, violating about 412 rules and using taxpayer money.
The Neighbor and I are at her office charging things and checking on how JP is doing with my Superfantastic All-80s Blah Blah Blah Duran Duran Blah Blah Blah Whatever.
Can't blog long lest the feds come so here's the thing:
We still don't have power or internets or any of the comforts we will now never again take for granted. We have coffee. It is true that the lines for Starbucks are longer than the gas lines. They are bringing in emergency power crews from other states to help with the crisis. We think they need to bring in out of state baristas. Just saying.
Here are all the things for which we are thankful:
A gas cook top
Starbucks
Knowing our neighbors (everyone is taking care of everyone else...it is so cool)
Cars with gas in them
Places to charge cell phones, even if we are breaking 412 rules
Blog buddies in Idaho who are willing to tape BSG and yes, Gina, you'll need to do that because they have no idea when we'll be back up. The cable and phones guys are saying they'll be out Monday but we still have a big ass tree over the lines so who knows.
Most of all, I am thankful to God Almighty that when that big ass tree went down it went down over The Spouse's car. Because the other option was The Child's bedroom and I seriously can't contemplate what we could be dealing with right now. And if you ever have a prayer request, may I ask that you pass it on to Jlow? Because that girl has a line to God that is very impressive.
I am also so thankful to my darling Poodle for his care and concern and to all of you for your sweet comments and care. Really, I'm varklempt. This is a tight little community in our corner of Blogtopia and when I have power again I am so making you all eggnog cakes. I love you all to the 412th power.
Power. What a concept.
Ok, a guy with dark glasses and a head set just walked by. I'd better go. Hopefully we'll have power by the end of the year and I will be back to blogging again. I adore you all and miss you. Oh, how I miss you.
Also, we're having steak for dinner tonight because someone sent The Neighbor Omaha (yes, that Omaha) filets for Christmas and we have to eat them now because, well, we don't have any power.
Take care and remember, always charge your cellphones!

Your repeated use of the number 412 could not have been arbitrary. You're trying to tell us something in a secret code so because you are unable to speak openly from your current location. 412, 412... what does it mean?
I'm pretty sure it's the area code for Guantanamo Bay Detention Center!!..or..Fargo North Dakota...nevermind..
Oh, you boys! (Yes, we're still at the undisclosed location. But Gitmo doesn't have blogging).
Glad to hear that all is well, Lorraine. Those 80s requests I passed on this morning (before I knew the whole power situation) can wait until the New Year!
My folks (Olympia, WA) have a tree that landed on their kitchen -- only a little branch actually made it through, but yeah -- whatta headache.
JP, I was thinking the exact same thing about 412. I'm looking up the address of the Seattle Public Library right this minute. She said she was using taxpayer dollars, and breaking rules, all of which patrons do every single day in my library when they use the internets. I'm just saying... we do have someone with a headset, just no dark glasses.

Glad to hear you guys are ok and just know there are LOTS of us out here praying for you!

Okay, sorry about the 412 comments. I swear, it was Blogger's fault.
OK, this is just crazy... I didn't mean to post that 4 times, honest! It just stopped at 38% when I clicked "login and publish" so I hit refresh...well, you understand, right? Good grief. I am so embarrassed.
Omaha steaks for supper? Silver lining - wonderful. And 412 is the average time Blogger submits any given comment at any given time. Glad you're all safe up there sweetie - genuine concern from my pov.
glad to hear everythings ok. we were all worried about you guys..
Okay (trying for the THIRD time to comment here!).
Just got back from the "everybody even remotely related to us" Christmas gathering and hopped on to see if you had checked in. I left a comment yesterday for you but Booger, er, Blogger ate it.
Neighborhood Appreciation in full swing up there, huh?
Praise God all are well and safe. Hopefully Monday will be the very latest that you have to wait for power.
Hugs!
I am very sorry and grateful for the tree falling where it did. Life without electricity...I am one of the few in my neck of the woods not prepared for Armageddon. Perhaps I will do something about that tomorrow. Very comforted to know that you and yours are undamaged physically.
No Blogging at Gitmo??...what next,..legalized torture fer Chrissake?..
Holy cow!
I had no idea all this was going on. See, if you don't check blogs for a couple of days, you miss a lot.
Hope all is back to normal as soon as Seattlean possible.
Ditto Iwanski's comment: I had no idea either!
Hope life goes back to normal for you very, very soon!
Peace be with you. It's good to hear that you're all taking care of each other, even though the storm has knocked civilization off the playing field for a while.
By the way, don't eat any of the soylent green the government is handing out. You wouldn't believe what they put in that stuff.
Glad to here you and family are all alright. Sorry about the tree and car. Hope the lights come back on soon Take care
Yay! The spacecraft has appeared from the dark side of the moon and Lorraine and family are well!
Thanks, Lorraine, for illegally obtaining access to Bunker 412 and sneaking a message out to us. I'm so glad you guys are okay.
