A Christmas Message to Dame Judi

Dear Dame Judi,

For all the Christmastides that were magically bestowed upon us, thank you. Thank you particularly for all those which involved you doing all the cooking, cleaning, shopping, wrapping, plotting and planning because everyone else in the house figured that Christmas always just happens without recognizing that someone was working overtime to make it so. A double thank you, particularly, for all those which included recalcitrant teenagers who were so concerned with their own agendas, like wrapping gifts for the pets, that they couldn't get up off their butts and lend a hand. (Or if they did, it was only with copious eyerolling and "mommmmmm"ing).

Not like I know, or anything. I'm just thinking, you know, in case something like that every happened to you and you had to gut up and soldier on for the love of your careless family and the spirit of the season, staving off the inclination to martyrdom by singing Christmas songs to yourself and determining to be joyful if it killed you even though it might have been real tempting to leave the mountain of boxes and unroasted food and just go to a hotel for Christmas or something.

Thanks again. Happy Christmas. I love you.

Your very grateful daughter,

Lorraine

Know what? I was glad to do it and would do it all again. But thank you for the kind words.

There are only sweet memories of those long ago days - one of the good things about aging!

Now for you, my darling, and all your Blogland friends, I wish you much joy and a blessed New Year.

And she's beautiful too.

Lorraine, Dylan will write you the same note in about 30 years.

Very Merry Christmas. Love to you and yours.

CM,Isn't she just the best?

Thank you, Nicole. From your lips....

A merry, merry Christmas to you, too! (There will be cards...I'm just invoking the "Christmas isn't over until Jan. 6 rule this year).
