Just a Regular Ol' Weekend
In a few hours Buck will be winging his way back to Chicago. (It's a sad place, what with Lou and the Cubs having been eliminated from the post season. Please tip toe softly when you're over at Iwanski's). Baseball aside, we had a lovely time.
Friday night The Child went to a dance at school, so the grownups ate delicious fajitas and watched "Iron Man". (Terrific movie). Saturday was spent doing lots of shopping all over town for the Autumnal Feast. Here's a picture of Buck at the Market, looking very Seattle-y.
We spent all afternoon cooking. The Spouse called Buck my "kitchen bitch". And a good one he was, too, doing all the sous chef stuff while I concentrated on flavors. Dinner was awesome...I'll tell you all about it as soon as I get the pictures which are sitting on Buck's camera.
Yesterday we went to church and then to breakfast at Saffron. Then we all took naps...the best thing to do of a Sunday afternoon. Then there was a little Speed Scrabble, a little Guitar Hero and then a lovely seafood dinner. The Neighbor joined us for oysters (raw and fried) and some plate cooked salmon.
This is what I do with my people. Eat.
Now, as the whirl of the work week begins, I have one question: has anyone seen my cell phone?

You left it at the office Thursday.
Actually, have you seen it since Wednesday?
Nope. Last time I used it was in the car after I dropped you at the hotel. So I know I had it but it's been MIA ever since. And yes, I thoroughly checked the car.
Coat pocket?
Nope. And it's not in my purse, briefcase, behind the toilet, under the bed, under the desk, under the fridge or behind the sofa cushions. It's not in the driveway, under the bushes or next to the dog dish. It's not behind my desk at work, or under my desk, or under my keyboard or stuck in the black portfolio that I use to keep my "to do" projects. It's not in the freezer, the oven, the drawer where I store napkins or on my dresser. And I prayed to St. Anthony and he said, "Pft...that'll learn you for all the times you yelled at The Child about losing her cellphone.
Close quote.
And one can assume you tried calling yourself and then running all over the house trying to figure out what hidden corner the ring tone was coming from???
Food - glorious food - you just wait until you get over here and we start hitting the markets... and maybe we can get Buck to kitchen bitch here too!!!!!
Too bad about the phone...but otherwise, it sounds like a wonderful weekend was had by all!
Oh what a fun weekend ..I would be in a complete total wreck if I lost my cell phone..You are one strong woman...or not emotionally attached to your phone like me..
Somehow I feel responsible for your loss.
Not everyone in Chicago is sad. Regardless of what happened to Lou, Sox fans, and agnostic baseballer Bears fans are thrilled right now.
oh oh. I hope you find your cell phone. I washed mine once, by accident of course.
Willym, yes, although I knew it was a fool's errand because I had noticed that it was in need of recharging so wherever it is, it's dead.
Oooh, Italian markets. I am soooo there.
Syd, indeed.
Sage, I'm just putting on a brave face. It's what I do.
Don't, Anne. I know you had nothing to do with it. Perhaps, if I were more like you and had a groovy iPhone which was surgically attached to my hand things like this wouldn't happen.
Well, keep it to yourself, Bosk.
Lost, did it still work after that?
Bummer about the phone kid.
I guess this means you'll be forced to replace it with one o' them state of the art, high falutin',chocked full of bells and whistles, diamond encrusted models..
I feel your pain.
Sounds delish. What a great weekend. Coincidentally, we watched Iron Man too - though no yummy fajitas were in attendance, sadly.
That's the pisser, Sling. It was a pretty new phone with an adequate number of bells and whistles...plus some phone numbers I didn't have written anywhere else. DAMMIT!
KA, I'm sure whatever you had was yummy. OH! And we made the pumpkin dumplings for the feast...although there was no canned pumpkin in the world so I baked a butternut squash and used that. Yum.
I hope your cell phone hasn't gone the way of my MP-3 player (gone).
Glad you had a good time with your kitchen bitch! :) (LOL!)
- sigh - I need a kitchen bitch too...
Hope you find your phone soon. If I ever lost mine, the freak out would be so major, you'd hear it on the West Coast!
So sad we never knew Buck was in town...sounds like he had a blast!
