Cableless in Seattle
I'm trying to keep this in perspective. We have power. We are warm and fed and The Child has come home to us. We scored cords of wood, which The Spouse and other manly men were cutting and hauling yesterday. There are still way too many people out of power, far too many who have suffered great loss. We have so much for which to be thankful.
But I still don't have cable and it's driving me crazy. We are majorly reliant upon cable because our phone is also hooked to the computer. So this isn't just about being able to watch reruns of "Sex and the City". Plus, I have to pay bills. (Filling out a check and placing a stamp on an envelope? Who does that?)
So I'm back up at Marcie's and I'm going to get the essentials taken care of and then it's off to U Village to get a start on making Christmas happen.
And when I get home I'm going to sweep and mop and make my house shine again. Because yesterday I pretty much did nothing. I think I was suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress. Seriously. So much physical and emotional effort went into just keeping the house warm and trying to remain positive that when the power came on I just completely let down. I felt guilty about it, what with The Spouse out there being a lumberjack and then coming in to roast a chicken because we really wanted to eat something that wasn't out of a can or made of semolina. But I feel better today. Not precisely restored, but better.
I'm still hopeful that we'll have cable sooner rather than later and we can get back on schedule here. But if I don't post you'll know why. Thanks again, all of you, for your good wishes and prayers. It meant so much to us to know that we weren't alone in our struggle for survival. (Oops, I'm leaking Drama Queen). Have a happy, warm day.

You understate the value of Sex and the City reruns.
Welcome back to Blogville! Your absence has been felt.
Hurry back! I need entertainment! In fact if you give me the name of the cable company I'll call them myself...:P
So happy that you are back! You've been missed.
(and you're not being dramatic - it was a very stressful situation which any one of us would have dropped from the vapors long before now)
jLow
I totally just read 'semolina' as 'salmonella'. lol!
Which brings to mind more things to be thankful for, not that food ever had a chance to rot in your icebox of a house.
I will hope that the Cable Guys restore you to Bloggerville soon. We miss you.
I save full season DVD's of x-files for just such an occasion.
It's nice hearing fom you,and hope your cable has a speedy recovery.
