Blogging Stuff Around the House
Last summer my brother, George Clooney, and his family had ocassion to stay at our house while we were on vacation. When we returned they were still there so we got a little one-on-one time with them, a rare occurance.
I was sitting at the dining table with my sister-in-law, Mrs. George Clooney, when I happened to glance up at the wall above our built-in buffet. "That's odd", I thought, "Why would I have left a wine bottle there?" We continued talking and I looked up again.
"Hey!" I exclaimed, "Did you paint that, Mrs. George Clooney?"
She blushed. "Yes, it's your hostess gift", she said.
Mrs. George Clooney is an amazing painter and tromp l'oeil is just one of her specialties. She never travels without her paints and on a gracious whim she decided to spark our walls with a touch of her gift.
I adore having talented people in my life.

How marvelous! I think that is just marvelous.
Agreed. Marvelous.
How wonderful- can she please visit me??
:)
I love that area in your room Lorraine. Bright and cheerful.
What a clever gift!..
acklu
WOw, how cool is that! You are so lucky to have such talented people in your life!
Okay, I am such a dork! The acklu was the word verification...somehow the cursor jumped back ahead of my comment. Sheesh...it's been that sort of day/week/month.
Between the tromp l'oeil and photoshop, I shall now question the true existence of all things visual on your blog. The Spouse, The Child, The Dog, The Pudding Molds...
Can Mrs. Clooney come paint Dr. McDreamy on my bedroom ceiling?
That is fantastic.
I have this picture taken in the woods that I tried to get an artist friend to put on my wall but he told me neither of us had enough time for it. lol
Yes, Angela & Iwanski, it is marvelous. One of those things that makes me smile every time I see it.
Horizon, Mrs. George Clooney (who's first name, we've decided is going to be Blanca) has informed me that she would be happy to visit you. Their 20th anniversary is next year (and they say Hollywood marriages don't last) so perhaps they'll plan a trip to the Highlands. And she'll bring her paints.
Sling, the cleverest. And it never needs dusting.
Gina, So glad you explained about the "acklu"...I thought it was some some sort of exclamation of wonderment and delight that I'd never heard of. Or something like that. And it's very cool. Blanca is even cooler.
Edy,
Despite all the artistic fakery in my life I promise that all the characters in my blog are real (though their names have, clearly, been changed to protect the not so innocent). As are my pudding molds.
I'm sure I could convince Blanca to paint Dr. McD for you...maybe I can take a few tasteful photographs at your next appointment???? You know, just in the interest of art.
Grish, Besides, it's hard to paint inside an active volcano.
Sadly, it would have taken me months to notice it, and even more months to discover it wasn't real. It's cool that you were able to discover while Mrs. Clooney was still in the house.
jp, True that. What if I hadn't noticed until some evening when, right before dinner, I realized there wasn't any wine in the house and then I saw it and it would seem like a miracle and then I'd go to pick it up off the shelf and break all my fingers when I tried to grab it. That would so not have been a good thing.
Grish, Besides, it's hard to paint inside an active volcano.
Very True :)
wow how wonderful!
