To Make "Atonement"
In a very elegant cocktail shaker, preferably sterling silver and engraved, combine two parts "Brideshead Revisited" with one part "The Children's Hour". To that add a jigger of the highest quality cinematography and a shot of fine acting by James McAvoy with a splash of Keira Knightly being Keira Knightly.
Shake vigorously, making sure that the storyline is not linear. Pour over ice and float a tablespoon of Creme de Surprise over the top.
Garnish with Vanessa Redgrave.
Makes one memorable cocktail.
The Film Czarina gives "Atonement" 3 ¾ out of 5 Koihead.

Oh I avoided that movie because I thought I might fall asleep during it.
No, it won't put you to sleep, Sage. It's compelling enough, for sure. I'm still not 100% sure how I felt about it. Like, I can't see telling someone that I "loved it" or even "liked it"...it's amazing to look at, it doesn't always go where you think it's going to go and it certainly makes me want to rethink my wardrobe. I responded to it more intellectually than emotionally, though. And I think the film-makers expected me to have a reaction. Me being the general public.
I think this comment is longer than the actual review.
I think I am enjoying your review more than I will the movie. Probably. Hi. (:
Well, Hat, we do love our cocktails, now don't we?
I've been on the fence about seeing this one, but given the time period, I gotta give it a chance. Your review is smashing, or am I just smashed from the cocktail. Oh well. How 'bout another, barkeep. (Just finished watching Casablanca, so I'm in the mood for something boozy.)
(hands Ka another cocktail and fresh napkin) Here's lookin' at you, kid.
Ba Ha Ha Ha (Note no W)
Went tothe organic chocolate and coffe show testerday. Had no idea there were that many and everyone was giving away free samples.
Thoug it did go by the name "Green Expo" at the convention center you and i both know why the crowd was so big. The second one should be even better. Cant wait.
Maybe some of the big names like the Sierra Club or the Mountaineers will be there.
Peace
:+}
It does sound like a lovely cocktail...
Oh, I love the scent of Brideshead Revisited. The taste had to grow on me. A friend of mine - one of those in line for the throne chappies. Oh. His father wrote 'Giant.' - anyway, he has all sorts of characters in his family as those inbred noodley sorts do and principal characters in BR were based on that family. Blah blah blah. Point is, I don't think a British book's ever been written that isn't vaguely based on some Britishy aristo.
That's a lie. I wanted to say it, though.
Coffee AND chocolate, Anonyba? Yee haw!
Syd, especially if you're having it while wearing an exceeding lovely dress. Or, you know, cowering in a bomb shelter.
Good lord, chaps! Booda's a toff dropper.
(I'll bet that only made sense to me).
What a unique movie review, Rainey!
Loved. It. :)
So glad, MHP. Another cocktail for you? And there are some lovely cocktail weiners...
What a cool review. Going to rent that one asap. Thank Lorraine.
