I Love This Song

One of my resolutions for the new year was to get into some new music that didn't have airplay on Radio Disney. The fact that the agent of some of that exposure would be "Guitar Hero", well, that's just funny. But it'll do.

I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it. (I have been working to master it on the game. So far I've still only managed to hit 99% of the notes on the easy level. I will not rest until it's 100%). I love everything about it, from the bass line to the sustained chords, the orchestral sound, the lyrics about love and yearning (because that's pretty much a key theme of rock music). It's simply superfantastic.

This band has only been recording since 2004 so I'm not too far behind. And yes, I'm going to be picking up the CD today and yes, it's sometimes a fool's game to buy an album based on one song. But since these guys site as influences bands like Depeche Mode, U2, the Beatles, Dire Straits, David Bowie and Queen (the influence of the last 2 is very evident in this song), I feel pretty confident that I'll like their other stuff.

Also, the lead singer, Brandon Flowers, is yummy.

Right? I think you should download them into that music thingy. I suspect once I buy the album there are members of my family who are also possessed of those music thingys who will be doing the same thing.

He is way too old for her.....I didn't get the ending totally. Were they married, not married, was she a maid, the other woman was who? I know, too literal. Their music was OK, but I'm really old and to be quite honest I still have Amy singing Valerie in my head.

Some of those bands sound like virtues, Anonyba. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

See, Grish? You've been out of Blogtopia too long. You'll get the hang of it.

I didn't get the ending either, Rosie. And I don't know if they were married or she just dreamed of being married to him. Either way he broke her heart and that's the point, I guess. Not that I necessarily found the video to match the song all that well. That happens.

Sorry folks, I feel "meh" about the killers. There are much more preferrable guitar hero songs. One day a radio station played 4 songs in a row and I recognized them as all being from guitar hero. I thought it was a gimmick, but probably just an addict dj.
Have a rockin weekend!!!!

I have seen The Killers live. They are absolutely incredible. Mr. Flowers wore a white button down, a vest, skinny tie, tight black jeans, and red sequined cowboyboots. He pulled it together so well. I love love love them!! And I need to play guitar hero!!

Sfoof, pft. Oh. What I meant to say was, I still love you even if you don't love The Killers. Cake?

Music: passes muster to me (3.5 on 5, can be bribed to push it up a 1/2-notch)
--Lengthy intro;
--well-paced delivery and good voice;
--solid rhythmic line;
--and now, let's tease Lorraine a bit: so, the Czarina likes the dark types, huh? (and with brown eyes she wrote (somewhere else)
Never heard of the Killers, folks, sorry, but good song. I side with Lorraine.

and for those who responded to the video ("he's too old",etc). Stats show that college-age women like older guys -- they know their stuff and are/act more mature (if you have ever seen "Jackass" --appalling--, it won't surprise you...) Might be more to it than just college...

And last, I've been to Quito (am one of the few gringos who walked the entire city, with nada on me, not even a watch ($20, xerox of main page of passport, and well-hidden hotel key, period), all the way to the foot of the Panecillo (didn't go up, not stupid, I have only one life). The site with the cross does remind me of a mini-Quito. A lot.

End of comments. Will wait for Lorraine to respond gto the comment on the "dark types".. AH! ;))

Lorraine: "YUMMY"???!!!
you sexist.. pig? and you objectify us guys (and WE (guys) are, demographically, a minority. Lorraine, Lorraine, what are you doing??? Worse; what have you done

On behalf of the.. other gender,I duly and offendedly protest!

You might be Czarina, but I am KING(ba), na! (na!)

PS: OK< I am just teasing, Lorraine, breathe deep!

Golly, Kingba...with a review like that you really ought to have your own Jukebox Friday bit.

And funny you should mention it but yeah, as a rule, I go for the dark haired, brown-eyed boys. So what sort of boy did I marry? Blonde, hazel-eyed person of Viking stock. Go figure.

And ha! I repeat. Brandon Flowers is yummy! The Czarina cannot be bothered with your, how you say, sexist notions. She needs to surround herself with beauty, you see.
