Take Me Back
There was a plan. A good plan. A good song. A completely different direction than what you are about to see. But as it happens, this was the song on my mind this morning and since there was in fact a video clip of this classic on the vastness that is YouTube, up it goes.
Just a few notes:
We had this album when it first came out & I loved this song.
I have always been, and suspect will always will be, a sucker for harmonies.
There may be those of you who have never heard of this group or this song. If so, I feel a little sorry for you.
Also, you must be REALLY young.
The bass player is yum-mee.

i remember this song.
I even remember when Sesame Street did it too.
Ah, good times.
Note to self: Don't click "play" so the song starts, then click on yesterday's comments. The song will stop. Which means you have to start it over again. And by the fourth time your neighboring coworkers are coming at you with duct tape and rope.
Sesame Street did all the classics. And please don't get your co-workers riled up, Anne. Although duct tape and rope is better than pitchforks and torches.
oh boy do i love the association. remember the episode of the wonder years where kevin and winnie danced to cherish? i'm not even sappy but i was moved.
I iliked it. I think I heard long time back.
Michele sent me here to enjoy the song.
I do remember that episode, Mon. And now I have the "bum bum, bum bum" hook going through my head.
GT: Oh, the Michelle. Thanks for stopping by!
Oh, I like that song! It's easy to singalong to without knowing the words. It reminds me of another oldyworldy song - damn damn damn! Now I'll spend all day trying to remember a song that's KIND of like - Oh. I remembered. Dizzy. I guess they're nothing alike. Except for being two-syllabic.
i was still a wee tot when this song came out but luckily i had parents with good musical tastes who raised me proper!
Cylon.
Hey, I think the guy with the
tamborine is pretty yum.mee.
Oh! Oh! Oh! Love this song! I wore out the groves on the 45 way back when. That and Petula Clark's "Don't Sleep in the Subway Darling." Great, now I'll have both tunes stuck in my head all weekend.
Geez, I'm getting old. Does anyone understand what "wore out the groves" means?
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Clip shamelessly stolen for my own post today.
I loved this song...thanks, Lorraine!
Love the 2 syllabic songs, Booda.
Danny, your parents were obviously people of taste and sophistication.
Who you callin' Cylon, mister?
He's all yours, Anon!
Speck, thanks for stopping by. Glad I could brighten your day (or mess with your head, as the case may be). I LOVED that Petula Clark song. Dang. May have to try and find it. I too know what it is to wear out the grooves on a record. We must stick together.
You're welcome, Syd. (drops a curtsey)
One of my first romantic dates with my high school boyfriend was seeing The Association at Pauley Pavilion at UCLA. Of course they played Windy, but OUR song was...
Cherish (sigh)
Is there a video of that one?
xo nayb
This is my veruh veruh veruh favorite song they do. And 'Along Comes Mary'. ooh ooh and 'Never My Love'. mmmmmmm...
Oh, gosh, "Never My Love"...you people and your associations.
