Batten Down the Hatches

Predictions abound for a big wind storm today. Usually, I ignore the weather people. Especially weather people on the local news (which also sucks) because they have a tendency to be, oh, what's the word? Hysterical. "Snow in the forecast! How will it affect your commute!?!" (Translation: there will be a normal snowfall of 1 inch. In the mountains. It might rain where we are. Maybe. But hey, this is Seattle. Predicting rain is like drinking coffee. We do it all the time. What's sexy about that?)

But after the Big Blow, I gotta admit, this makes me nervous.

There is good ground coffee in the freezer. I know where the can opener is. The corkscrew is still manually operated.

I'm hoping that by saying this out loud it'll all, uh, blow over. 'Cause I'm practical like that.

Sounds like Los Angeles in that, as soon as one forlorn little cloud appears on the horizon (or somewhere up the coast and moving vaguely south at about one m.p.h.), every channel starts running STORMWATCH!!!!! reports. And then it maybe rains hard enough to give us a quarter-inch in four hours.

Sheesh.

Of course, we did have a nice little gully-washer the last Friday night of September...but in general, "forecast overkill" is the phrase that best applies.

I hope that if there is a storm up your way, it has no bad consequences!

We are supposed to get hammered today as well (not in the good slurrr yur words way). Hope it skips us this time, I don't need to replace the roof yet again! Besides, my brother is taking me to see Van Halen tonight (sinister plot to convert me to a 1980's, teen aged, straight boy?), and I don't want the weather to out blow them...

Funnily enough, snow's also predicted for the south of Poland, which is where I'll be on Saturday evening, God willing.

Maybe a new B.A.S. will blow down the fence wot divides you from the neighb. I would enjoy that. Because it would mean I don't have to walk ALL AROUND the B.A.T. anymore. Oh and be safe yadda yadda call me.

Syd, all local new people, I've decided, are freaks! And thanks for the good wishes.

Tater, since David Lee Roth is touring with them there's a good chance that VH won't blow. Keep your roof on.

What in the world are you doing in Poland this weekend, Dariush?

Buck, promises, promises.

JP: trust me...I was looking around this morning making that very assessment.

Hat, always looking on the bright side. Good girl.

Exactly, Sling. "Local food chain shut down for e-coli...tune in at 11 to find out who it is and what you can do to protect yourself".

Hi. Tell me who the frakking e-coli serving restaurant is and I'll avoid 'em, how's that for protection?

Idiots I tell you!

And thanks for the storm. It seemed to have gathered steam since leaving your fair state but all appears to be well. Now.
