Things To Know
I bought a super cute ruby glass turkey compote dish today, to complement the ruby glass turkey candleholders I already own. It was on sale.
I think he is very handsome and it will be amusing to fill him with cranberry compote because it will be the same color as he is.
I'm feeling ambient anxiety today, the sort where you can't put a finger on the cause but just feel sorta jittery anyhoo. I hate that feeling. I don't think it has anything to do with the fact that there are still bunches of things to do to prepare for our house guest and the feast, because those are joyful things. Maybe I'll take a nice long bath when I get home from grocery shopping for all the last minute things I realize I need. Like a leek and another box of bread cubes (just to be safe) and some nouveau Beaujolais. Oh, and brandy. I need brandy for the yams.
I'd better get on it, huh?

HA!..Number 1!!..
I had to quit my job and rush home in time to make the cut.
Not really..But wouldn't that be totally,..umm..well,..crazy I guess.
Great lookin' ruby bird ya got there kid!
Have a great Thanksgiving!
Congratulations, Sling! Here is a tiara made entirely of cranberries in honor of the occasion.
You have a wonderful day as well, my friend. I'm thankful for you!
dernit! First Mouse scoops me, now Sling. Sheesh. Sling, I've got a tiara of bread cubes to wear with the cranberries.
I wouldn't miss PR even if it was Thanksgiving Eve. On, wait, it is. I saw a couple episodes from season 2 this afternoon. Gotta love Daniel... Yay me!
Almost as pretty as Ruby Slippers with clicking heels! How about Clucking Heels....nope, not the same. Have a wonderful day filled with friends, family and good food....let someone else clean up...I'm gonna let the dogs just lick all the plates clean and re-use them on Friday for leftovers.
Anne, the breadcube tiara sounds to die for. And yeah, sweet Daniel. Can't wait for tonight!
Rosie, since our houseguest is a Texan and a gentleman, I 'spect I'll be off KP. If not, I plan to fully implement the Mama Ro method of dish cleaning. The Dog would be most willing, I'm sure.
the ruby turkey is fabulous and i'm sure will look amazing tomorrow!
have a fantastic holiday and i will certainly check out your thoughts on project runway, after i watch it on the dvr....
T: Thanks, doll. You have a happy one, too!
Yay for ruby turkeys! It might also work well with razzleberry dressing... :)
Happy Thanksgiving, all!
Oh my yord, Syd. Do you know that the one grail I seek for our family Christmas movie collection is "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol"? To this day, I still think that is the best interpretation of the classic.
And the feast will be a traditional one? With added flourishes and little culinary twists I would assume?
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and let us know what you did with the leftovers.
A happy Thanksgiving to all of you.
Question: seeing as turkey is your traditional fare for this time of year, do you just have turkey all over again on Christmas Day or do you go for something else?
Not that one can ever have enough turkey... especially not in Israel, which is, apparently (and oddly), the world's main turkey gobbler (sorry, couldn't resist.)
Count you many blessings as you feast upon turkey and compote.
Happy thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving Lorraine. I hope you and your family have a blessed day.
Very traditional, Willym. I'm hoping to blog about it on the food site today. And there will be a few flourishes, I suppose. It's the tiara in me.
Thanks, D. Some Americans do turkey at Christmas...for our house, we do a different theme every year. This year is Caribean. Jerk chicken or pork most likely. It's how we roll. Funny man.
Many blessings, indeed, Mom. Hope you and yours have a blessed day as well.
Backatch, Twisi! And remember, I'll be over to help with the gravy later. Tee.
Didn't see your PR review post, so I'm writing here. AM tells me Christian, the guy with the asymetrical hair, is from Annapolis and worked in the salon where AM gets her hair cut.
Anne, I have my notes. I'll get something up later today. Buck's flight is actually on time so I have to get him soon!
Really, Lorraine? Then cast thine eyes upon:

I also like the 1951 film with Alistair Sim (called either Scrooge or A Christmas Carol depending on whether you're discussing the American or UK release) and the 80s tv-movie with George C. Scott. And if you can get your hands on the CD version of Patrick Stewart reading A Christmas Carol, grab it--amazing!
Happy Turkey Day, all!
