OK, I am a Rabid Seahawks Fan. I get Temporary Sports Induced High Blood Pressure at my kids' sporting events. I love soccer, and played much hooky during the World Cup.
I just can't seem to get on board with the Mariners though. All my colleagues are on cloud nine over this win -- I will never hear the end of it. Baseball season at my job is hell.
Cowbell, I totally get that. I used to adore the Mariners and plan our spring schedule around televised games. Now that just about everyone I recognize is playing for the Yankees, it's a lot harder to get jazzed. On the other hand, after their fairly dismal spring training record, the fact that they've now beaten Oakland - who habitually spanks us and makes us cry - well, it's a great way to start the season. After last night's win things should be doubly insufferable around the water cooler. Sorry.
