Round 1

The Child gave her first presentation, a dramatic reading from The Hobbit. It was stronger in the beginning than the end but she was really clear afterwards about how she could have fixed that. This is really a practise tournament for our kids...some of the schools have had speech clubs for 20 years. This is only the 2nd year for our school.

Anyway, I found it positively nerve-wracking. And I told her so as we were going to the next competition. "I'm so glad you said that," she said. "It made me nervous to have you there".

"So you wouldn't mind if I left?"

"That would be fine!" she said.

Of course, I have to go back because I told her I'd see her at lunch and because I told the coach I'd bring him a calculator. But then I get to come home again because it turns out that the scoring is cumulative and they all have to compete in all 3 rounds.

She's going to be exhausted by the time this day is over.

Can't BELIEVE you found this video!
Little known fact:
"be dah dee dah ay" actually translates to "people on streets" in ancient Aramaic. I had no idea Vanilla Ice was bi-lingual.

That was so wrong of Queen and David Bowie to steal from Vanilla Ice and then time travel back 10 years like that.

It's the haggis from yesterday's party, Eva. Makes people think and say strange, strange things.

JP, I know. The no-talents.

Funny, when you hear that intro there is so totally no doubt that Vanilla stole it...and he tried so hard to say it was different, yet when I heard it, before looking at the video, I thought to myself "Lorraine likes Vanilla Ice?"... doh! Who knew he was a time traveler too! I mean, he MUST have tapped that out for Queen during one of his treks back in time, right?

Gina, Vanilla Ice leaves me...oh, what's that word??? Cold. He just wishes he was worthy to touch the hem of Queen & Bowie's garments.
