Little Movies in My Head
Yesterday I mentioned that "Making Movies" was one of the soundtrack albums in my life. Like "Joshua Tree", it's associations have to do with a boy who broke my heart. But that's ok, for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is that there'd be a lot less good pop/rock 'nd roll if it wasn't for someone somewhere breaking someone's heart.
The title of the Dire Straits album in question is particularly apt for lo, every song on the album tells a story that you can't help but play in your head. This song conjured particular pictures for me and I was positively gobsmacked the first time I saw the video because it was, essentially, just a more stylized version of what I had been imagining. Also, please note that there is a little gesture that occurs about 3 minutes & 6 seconds into the video that is exactly what I always used to do when I listened to this song. So there you go.

That is the biggest iPod I have ever seen.
That was the beta version.
Hee.
Not a huge Dire Straits fan, in fact I remember being disappointed when I bought that one album only to discover that not all their songs sounded like "Money for Nothing."
But maybe I'd enjoy them more now. Because I'm so much more mature, and all.
Yes, the maturity. I've noticed that.
I'm with JP on this one. Though I do like the song and video, but wasn't a big fan in their heydey. But then, I didn't like Seinfeld until it went into syndication. Same for (gasp) Star Trek. Always a day late and a dollar short...or just immature.
Mark Knopfler is a god.
