Cool
Last night The Child was talking about school. It's been going really well. So far she's getting straight A's. Math is "easy" (owing to the fact that so far it's all been review of the stuff she learned last year). She has good friends and is planning a series of sleep-overs. She's already found a niche and it's the most wonderful thing in all the land.
"You are really enjoying school now, aren't' you?" I asked.
She stopped washing dishes, turned to me with a big grin and said, "I really am." She paused briefly and then added, almost shyly, "I just feel so cool when I'm walking with my friends after choir and carrying my bag across the courtyard to the cafeteria. I can't explain it". Her eyes sparkled.
She didn't have to explain. I feel the exact same way when I walk across the parking lot, carrying my briefcase, toward my office. Exactly the same way.
What makes you feel cool?

And what is wonderful is her sharing of that feeling with you!
Cool?
Maybe I need to start carrying a briefcase?
What a great story.
I feel cool right after I take a shower and the ceiling fan is on and I am not quite dry yet.
Ba Ha Ha Ha (Note no W)
Hhhhmmmmm. Sounds great. Remember these days when the report is late and the flu is on your shoulder.
Good luck and grats again!!!
Peace
:+}

Okay, I'm going to cry. That was so sweet.
I feel cool when I cross a busy intersection downtown, just like Mary did in the opening credits of the Mary Tyler Moore show.
It is cool that you both are in tune w/ your coolness!
I don't think I've ever felt cool. I just don't feel like I belong...
Happy and in the right place is a good thing..
And I'm with Wills (as per usual) on your awesome Mom-ness there o' Cuz of mine.
I think it's so cool not only that she feels that way, but that she shared it with you. So awesome!
I guess I feel kinda cool when I run races, just because I always thought they were for *other* people.
Allow me to refer to my notes of your visit to O-Town..Yep..It says right here that you guys are totally cool!
..I feel cool all the time, choosing to ignore all the evidence to the contrary.
good for the child! that's exciting that she enjoys school academically and socially.
give her a hug from all of us here and give yourself a pat on the back for being cool enough to pass on your coolness to the child!
actually that's what makes me feel cool: when andrew feels cool because of something i said to him or did for him. totally cool ;-}
(I've been thinking about this.) I think I feel cool when my daughter tells me I'm one of the cool moms.
Also, when I can teach someone (who wants to learn) something.
She's even talking like a grownup now.
Make that stop.
Absolutely nothing, as of late. I need to work on that.
Know what makes me feel awesome? Swiping my card at the cafeteria.
And finishing all my major homework.
Leading a discussion in my Music and Culture class.
Making upperclassman laugh :)
Wow, that's awesome! :)
I feel cool when I'm the center of attention. We "babies in the family" LOVE that. *smiles*
How nice that this is one of the first post-summer posts I read.
So glad to read that The Child's experience of her new school has been positive so far... but I'm not sure I realised that The Parent has a day job'. I guess I need to read some more past posts. Oh, if only I could make time freeze - just for one day - so I could catch up with all the stuff I need to do.
What makes me feel cool? Hmm... When the sun's shining, and I'm in the car, and I've got the roof down, and I'm wearing my shades, and Mrs Ritchie is telling me to strike a pose.
