Mellencamp understands this country better than every politician in Washington.
I must ask: Does anyone have a favorite John Cougar Mellencamp song that is not this one?
Me neither.
I believe you may be right, Mr. I. He certainly gets "small town".
There are one or two, JP. I actually saw him in concert. Couldn't quite shake the sense that he wanted to be Springsteen but he can rock. I do love this song, though.
Plus, how many rock songs use the word "ditty" correctly?
I bet he'd put on a great show. Certainly a lot of material to pull from.
