Oh, For Heaven's Sake
In my eagerness to post pictures of people eating ribs, I completely neglected to tell you about our first Iwanskifest miracle. After our hot dogs we sat down for a few hands of five card draw. The Spouse was dealing, one-eyed jacks and suicide kings were wild. I drew to an inside straight.
I never do that.
It was a miracle.
I never do that.
It was a miracle.

There's Magic in the Iwanski Holiday.
It's my favorite time of year.
Is the any chance that this will become a federal holiday? I could use an extra day off this time of of year...
One more miracle and we'll be able to nominate him for Sainthood.
Grish, I think if we wanted to honor the day properly, not only would it be a federal holiday but it would be election day as well. Win-win.
JP, Not to get all technical on you but it takes 3 miracles for sainthood. Is there something I don't know about?
Right up there with Festivus!
Without the aluminum pole or airing of grievances. But yeah, like that.
You mean we weren't supposed to take the day off??..
Geez, Sling, do I have to write you another note?
i shall be on the lookout for more iwanski miracles next week.... oh yes, big neener neener to you all. i get to see him IN PERSON (+ in God's country)
Stacy, You are a very lucky woman. Please be sure to report back should any miracles occur.
Now the question is: Did you keep a straight face and play the hand out to maximize your winnings? Or did you immediately do a happy dance on your chair, yelling "BOO-YAH! BOO-YAH! BOO-YAH!"?
Poker face, baby, poker face. I don't think I even raised the bet by much. Just patiently waited for The Spouse and Child to go through their ritual scowling-at-each-other-to-determine-who's-bluffing ritual. And when it was time to show my cards I think I said something like, "Is this good?"
Congrats on the inside straight. I don't know what that means, but it sounds impressive (if that's your thing!) ... ;-)
Thanks for popping over to my blog last night -- you made the place classier just by showing up. Funny story about "but he's such a nice person."
That's what my brother-in-law's (conservative, Republican) family said to me after finding out that I ... voted for Kerry (heaven forfend).
Cheers ...
Red7, Thank you and your welcome and don't let me fool you. I've been well-behaved so far but it's early yet.
Charlie, We were playing cards. I was dealt good cards. I won. (I am saying this very slowly and loudly, just in case).
