This Program is Completely Arbitrary

We're going to start the weekend with a personal apology.

Grish had requested some Def Leppard for this weekend. He might have been kidding, maybe not. But I told him "no". He gave me a virtual pout. I hope he will forgive me.

I recognize that there was a lot going on in music in the 80s and I've done absolutely nothing to demonstrate the range of the decade. It's because I don't like bands like Def Leppard and White Snake and all those other people with their tight pants and big hair. (There are exceptions, Aerosmith and some Van Halen, but these are negligible). And I don't like rap, so you're not going to be getting any Public Enemy, either.

Nope. Around here the weekends on focused on what I, with my extremely biased pop/punk/new wave influenced sensibilities, consider to be classic. For a complete over-view of the musical stylings of the 80s you'll have to sign up for one of Professor JP's master classes.

In the meantime, we're going to get started with this request from the Professor.

I assume it wouldn't be wise of me to request "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns N Roses?

I KNOW you gotta love some Bon Jovi! Maybe a little "Wanted Dead or Alive"

I loved Jon Bon Jovi. When he played a plumber or handyman or whatever he played on "Allie McBeal". Stop taunting me.

You need to embrace the hair metal. Some of it was quite good.

Thank God for the superfantastic all-request... ...80's weekend spectacular. Nothing else would get me through a Saturday at work.

And thanks the request. Best video ever made.
